Borgo Roma. Paesaggio in Transizione
Borgo Roma. Landscape in Transition by Lorenzo Vitturi is a photographic project that investigates the territory of Verona, focusing on the urban transformations determined by the migratory flows of the contemporary city. The investigation focuses on the Veronese neighborhood of Borgo Roma, the beating heart of post-war industrial Verona, now converted into a commercial and cultural center thanks to the recovery of the structure of the former Specialized Refrigeration Station, home of the EARTH Foundation.
The project includes an initial collection of materials and testimonies among the inhabitants of the communities that inhabit Borgo Roma, reintroduced within the exhibition thanks to the narration of Vitturi's works. The exhibition is held at the spaces of the E.ART.H. Foundation and proposes a narrative that creates points of contact between Borgo Roma and the cities of the world that are the protagonists of the artist's corpus of works, through similarities and assonances.
The exhibition itinerary brings together the site-specific works created by Lorenzo Vitturi in Borgo Roma and a selection of historical and iconic works from the production of one of the most interesting photographers on the current scene. The exhibition, curated by Giangavino Pazzola, curator of exhibitions and research projects at CAMERA Centro Italiano per la Fotografia in Turin, in collaboration with Giulia Adami, curatorial project manager of EARTH, highlights the potential of a developing neighborhood, through a story of the materials, places and stories that characterize this reality.
